You are bidding on a SUPERB example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe Kriegsmarine 40mm FlaK28 Brass-Plated Steel Shell Casing! The 4cm Bofors was originally a designed in the 1930s by the Swedish arms manufacturer AB Bofors. It was one of the most popular medium-weight anti-aircraft systems during WW2, used by most of the western Allies as well as some captured systems being used by the Axis powers. A small number of these weapons remain in service to this day, and saw action as late as the Persian Gulf War. Germany used a number of captured examples from Poland and France. The Kriegsmarine also operated some that were obtained from Norway. In German naval use, the gun was designated the 4 cm Flak 28, and was used aboard the cruisers Admiral Hipper and Prinz Eugen. Beginning in 1942, several E-boats were equipped with the Flak 28 to enable them to fight against British MGBs and MTBs on equal terms. Made of solid steel with a brass plating, this item is in AMAZING used condition! Some marks and scratches, but it still retains most of its original finish! All manufacture stamps are clear, and show the Manufacture Code; Waffenamt, and Date. The ink stamps also remain (but faded). I have shown the exact location in the last photo. Would make an EXCELLENT addition to any collection or display! Please email me if you need additional photos or information.
