These hammers are hard faced and either a machinist or engineer type. They will have a polished striking face on one end for striking punches and chisels and a polished hemispherical ball peen on the other end for use in riveting, shaping, and straightening unhardened metals. The handle can be made of wood, plastic, fiberglass or metal and may or may not be covered by an additional grip for comfort.
